Tree house
A fully accessible treehouse under the stars
What is the first thing that comes to mind when we see a treehouse, or even hear the term?
A magic world between the earth and the sky, maybe a little closer to the sky, where children play, climb, hide, and create a completely new space separated from earthly reality: a world of freedom.
We all love the enduring charm of this place. The hours spent within its branches transform into echoes of childhood that we carry into adulthood, inviting us back with a desire to rediscover its enchantment, even as adults.
The magic that a tree house carries stays with us even as adults and there are several examples of treehouses that are used for a vacation, or even permanent homes.
The usual routes to access a treehouse can seem complex – which encouraged us to design something that would make this dream spot accessible to everybody. There are many who might never imagine themselves in a tree house because of physical differences.
Inclusivity must be at the core of design. Our treehouse concept grew from our belief that every individual should be embraced in every space.
By making our treehouse accessible to wheelchair users, we guarantee that no one is left out, enabling everyone to enjoy the beauty of nature and the excitement of a treehouse adventure.
A tree house must be as flexible as possible, so as to adapt to the constant seasonal changes in the natural environment.
Therefore, we thought of designing a treehouse that not only allows wheelchair access through a platform that could be raised or lowered, but also designed the interior keeping in mind the movements of a wheelchair during times of work or relaxation.
The space remains constrained but can accommodate all the necessary elements and activities for someone to work, live, relax and finally enjoy this unique experience.
Additionally, the interior space can become an open tent covered with a mosquito net where someone can sleep enjoying the endlessness of the sky.
