Residence refurbishment, Athens
Redesigning a family home for the future
We were contacted by a former client to refurbish their home, a property within a complex in a suburb to the north of Athens.
The space was home to a family of five – including three teenagers, and the clients wanted to open up under-utilised areas and create space for guests, in a lasting, flexible way.
The seemingly disadvantageous narrow width and long depth of the plan became the base of a harmonious and light interior space.
On the ground floor, we created a unified area for a living room, library and dining room, with access to the two gardens.
Upstairs, a living room for the children adjacent to their bedrooms was added, while the attic was redesigned to create a master bedroom, an office with views of the mountains opposite and a walk-in closet. The lower level with access to the back garden was dedicated to a guest suite.
The use of natural materials and subdued colour palette created a smooth background for vibrant furniture, while a semi-transparent metallic screen separated the corridor and living space and created temporary shapes with shadow as the light changes throughout the day.

After a successful collaboration on the design of our offices, we entrusted the Stavropoulou team with the redesign of our home. Both times the team transformed the space into a welcoming and serene environment, combining functionality and aesthetics.
Having chosen them for their unique designs and innovative use of different materials, we came to appreciate the team’s commitment to superior craftsmanship and respect of our budget and time constraints, for an excellent end result.
