Gynaecology clinic, Athens
A reassuring sense of comfort and calm for dreaming of the future.
Beyond the practical specifications of this type of clinic, it is imperative to create an ambience that will encourage calm, reduce anxiety and provide comfort for the people it serves.
The overarching style is fundamentally minimalist, and the colour palette is deliberately cool and relaxing throughout the rooms. Warm, earthy shades and neutral tones of grey are used in every space to create a reassuring sense of consistency and calm.
Furniture is markedly soft, with curved edges complemented by gentle flashes of brighter colours to help the space feel cheerful and fresh.
The main element of the radical renovation of a 1960s apartment in the heart of Athens was the elimination of the conventional compartments in the existing spaces. The reception area is, for functional and symbolic reasons, located in the central zone of the open-plan space. An independent area houses the two examination rooms to ensure privacy for visitors and doctors.
